Russian animated short, Okhota (The Hunt), 1979. By Eduard Nazarov.
A boy enters a gun shop, and sees a framed photograph of a hunter standing over a killed lion. The boy imagines himself preventing the kill: but then is awoken from his dream by the gun shop owner.
The film opens and ends with busy street scenes, indifferently framing the boy’s small dream of compassion.
